Mahuru Māori

Tēnā koutou e ngā kaipānui,

Last year a few of the Māori boys at school decided to take part in a nationwide initiative called Mahuru Māori, where people try to speak only Māori for a chosen amount of time. For us, this challenge was to normalise Māori speaking around the school, to improve our speaking ability, and to encourage newcomers to give Te Reo a go.

This time, we have a group of very dedicated young men who are attempting this challenge at a range of levels; speaking Māori for either one day a week, one week, or for the whole month! This is very exciting time as we are also preparing for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori on the 10th - 16th September.

Nau mai te wero!
