The boys are all back from tournament week, and a sense of normality has returned to School House.
With the sun setting later and winter sport all but finished there is a certain calmness that prevails in School House at present. All in all, this makes for prefect conditions for the senior boys to do some study. It is crucial that the boys make the most of the next couple of weeks to prepare for the exams. The boys often dismiss these examinations as being unimportant, but they are crucial. Done properly, they identify what the boys need to work on to succeed to the best of their ability in the end of year NCEA exams. On top of this, if the boys require a compassionate pass for the end of year NCEA exams then the results that they get in these practice exams stand. While the boys always have a ‘it won’t happen to me’ attitude it does, and this effects 5-10 students at the school every year.
On Wednesday, all Year 10-12 boys head down to school for the options evening starting at 6:30pm. This is an important event for the boys as many of them, especially the younger ones, will have no idea what subjects to do next year.
Tournament week was a mixed bag for the hostel with some successes but also some disappointments. Many of the teams representing the school were very young though, and this bodes well for the future.
This weekend we have the Green Island Rugby 10’s Competition. The boys are really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, this has meant we have had to postpone the Berwick camp day until next year. The company that runs it are very busy and are booked solid for the rest of the year. We are looking to go on the Sunday of the first weekend of the school year in 2019. Please remember that this is a compulsory in-weekend.
Have a great week and enjoy the spring weather!
