The football first’s travelled to compete in the Jim Wishart tournament in Nelson. The week started with a long drive through to Mapua Camping ground.
We had a very good first day with a 11-0 win over Garin School and a 2-0 win over Kapiti College.
The second day saw us lose 2-1 to Christ's College which put us into second place in the pool.
The game on Wednesday was a quarter final against Malborough Boys'. Despite starting well we were caught with a fast break and went into halftime 1- 0 nil down. We started the second half well and deserved our equaliser with a well taken goal by Ben. Unfortunately, Malborough caught us again with a well taken goal and despite a huge effort in the last 15 minutes we could not get the equaliser.
We played Trident High School in the play offs and scored some cracking goals to lead 4-1. Despite a spirited comeback we held out for a 4 - 3 win.
Our last match was against Timaru Boys' where we led 1 nil until the last 30 seconds of the game. TBHS equalised and then went on to beat us in the penalty shootout 4 - 3. A tough way to finish the week but overall a good effort from a young developing side.
