Congratulations to Year 9 student Whetu Price-Koopu who last weekend competed in the 2018 Christchurch Seido International Karate Tournament in the Youth Kata competition.
This was Whetu’s first tournament and whilst he didn’t place, he competed in a strong field of fellow brown belts from NZ and overseas.
Whetu is a 2nd Kyu brown belt in this style of karate, and at the beginning of next year will grade for his 1st Kyu brown belt before beginning training for his black belt. He has been training in karate since he was 6 years old.
