OBHS has recently re-established a Sports Council to provide oversight, guidance and direction to sport within the school.
The Council is still in the very early stages of development and have been working on some of the systems and processes required to ensure that the Council is effective.
In addition, there have been three focus areas that the Council has deemed to be a priority. The first is the development of a strategic plan which focuses on five key pillars: opportunities, people, community, infrastructure and funding.
Central to this strategic plan is that the school has the leadership and support required to ensure sport at OBHS meets the needs of the boys and gives them opportunities to participate, thrive and excel. The second is a school sport survey to give some baseline information on sport within the school from the boys themselves. This will be administered before the end of the year. The third has centred on the viability of a Director of Sport role for the school. It is pleasing to see that this looks like it will become a reality and we are anticipating that the role will be advertised for shortly.
OBHS has a long, distinguished and proud sporting history and we hope that the Sports Council can assist in adding to this legacy.
