I know I waffled last night and you’ve listened to enough speeches this week so to quote Flynn, 'I’ve tried to keep this short like my hair.'
There are a couple of things that I want to say this morning. Firstly, to expand and elaborate on something I briefly mentioned last night. We must continue to strive. As school leavers, we have been given a clean slate; for the Year 11s and 12s this will apply to you sooner than you think. Having a clean slate means it doesn't matter who you were or who you weren't inside these school grounds. We are given a once in a lifetime opportunity to leave through that archway and do whatever we want. To be who ever we want. So I urge you. Leave through that archway and strive to reach better heights, strive to be a better person, a better friend and take hold of this opportunity with two hands.
Secondly, I want to say thanks. Thanks to Mr Hall. Even though you were only here for 4 of our 5 years, your passion hasn’t gone unnoticed. Thanks to Mr Hooper, not only for your incredible work ethic but for your caring nature. Thanks to the whole senior leadership team for building a school that I have loved over the past 5 years.
Most of all, thanks to all you boys, Year 11s and 12s included. It hasn't all been smooth sailing and there are a few things that I wish I could've done differently but the memories and experiences we have shared is something that will never leave us and something I’d never give up. I have loved growing up, making questionable decisions, doing questionable things and learning with you boys. Wouldn’t want a different group of lads to have done it all with and I hope to stay in contact with all of you, even Jed.
At a school like ours I wouldn't want to break tradition, so I’ll finish with a quote from Harley’s favourite TV show, Winnie the Pooh. “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
