A concert, showcasing the musical and dramatic talents of some of our junior students, was held on Tuesday evening. It has been a number of years since we last presented a show like this.
Our Junior Symphonia, under the guidance of Mr Sinclair McLaren, performed a number of pieces, ranging from traditional folk songs to Classical Symphonies. Their skill and dexterity were obvious.
Year 10 students Michael Crosson and Judah Nika played a heartfelt version of Brooke Fraser’s New Wine before being joined by Nicholas Finnie, Ryan Kenton and Ben Burrow to perform songs by Cory Asbury and then Backstreet Boys. This band has only been playing together for a week or so but that was not at all obvious. This talented band has a bright future.
We rounded off the night with a lively production of Phil Mann’s Revenge! At Ditchwater Falls. Strong performances by all the actors enabled the audience to thoroughly enjoy this comic western where evil is thwarted and in the end the good guy gets the girl.
Overall it was an enjoyable evening, highlighting how talented and how versatile many of our junior students are.
