On Monday 28 January we will welcome the 2019 OBHS Year 9 students to the school.
Year 9 students should assemble by 10am at the school archway, Gate of Remembrance, where they will be greeted by Year 13 students. They will be welcomed onto the school grounds with the school mihi whakatau (welcome ceremony).
This is an important tradition for their time at Otago Boys' as in five years time we farewell them as Year 13 students to symbolise the end of their time with us. Parents, caregivers and whānau are welcome to join too. We have made a video to explain the ceremony and what is involved. The waiata (song) they will sing after their speaker is 'E hara i te mea' which many of them will know.
There is a link to the words and song so they can practice.
