Mt Aspiring Lodge News - January 2019

The Lodge was well used over the summer break with several different groups taking advantage of this prime spot for exploring the Matukituki Valley or just taking a break from city stresses.

A new feature at the Lodge is that each bunkroom has now been named in honour of a previous staff member who was influential in the set-up and running of the Lodge in its earlier days. The people who have been selected for the 6 bunkrooms are;

Henry Stoddart

Bill Trewern

Magnus Sinclair

Peter Foster

Murray Oben

Richard Wilton

In the future, a brief description of what their contribution was along with some anecdotes and a photo will be mounted in the appropriate bunkroom. It is important that the boys recognise the efforts that went into creating the opportunities they have today.

Year 10 camps are coming up shortly, with the first group departing on Friday 22nd February. There will be 5 camps this term (for 10B, 10H, 10O, 10T and 10Y) each leaving on a Friday with the final camp returning on Friday 29th March. Staffing and class placement is being worked on at the moment and parents of Year 10 boys will be advised as soon as the dates for each class have been finalised. In the meantime, accumulating the required gear would be a good idea. The camp cost will remain at $350 for this term. A reminder that arrangements for time payments of camp fees or application for financial assistance with camp fees need to be made through me ([email protected]) well before the camp departs.
