This year has started with over 800 students, the largest in the last 5 years. It is certainly noticeable around the grounds, but I must say, I believe this has been one of the best starts we have had.
I have never understood why some institutions stagger their class starts over a whole week. Instead, for us Year 9 have been in all week, Year 10 since Tuesday and the Full school since Wednesday. It is better I think to take advantage of that.
There have been positive tweaks to the pre Christmas work on the timetable which has ensured senior timetable clashes have been significantly less. More boys have been in class for longer.
Today has been senior academic coaching, an important goal setting activity. Instead of sending the juniors home, they have been here completing tests that we need to do. This means students have been in class and at school more than previously.
Central to this positive start has been the leadership of the Year 13's - the 'men' of the school. I have been impressed with the way that they have embraced the good older brother role and have been guiding the Year 9's. We intend to promote activities that see this continuing.
Enjoy your weekend and I recommend you make our weekly newsletter a part of your weekend reading.
