Last week ten of our golfers travelled to Cromwell to participate in the Otago Intercollegiate Finals which were held this year on the Cromwell Golf course.
The tournament was played in perfect golfing weather on a challenging course. Our A team (Parker Aluesi, Joseph Hancock, Tommy Wilson and Seb Kyle), were always going to face strong opposition from the more fancied Wakatipu High School but on the day things did not always go according to plan and we were soundly beaten into second position. The most outstanding player for OB’s was Seb Kyle who played very steady golf to shoot an outstanding 75, well below his handicap rating. Seb finished in second place overall for both the nett and the gross, narrowly missing out on a place in the Eagles Final later this year. Jared Dixon also played well to finish amongst the prizes. It was a good experience for all of our golfers and has shown that OB’s has some depth for the future in golf.
Congratulations to Joseph Hancock for winning the Otago Under 19 Championship which was played on the same course later that weekend.
