Congratulations to Year 11 student Kaleb Hollands who competed in the Civil Contractors New Zealand Otago Regional Excavator Competition earlier this year.
Kaleb entered the Social Category and came 3rd out of 11 competitors. He was the youngest to ever enter (at 15), and it was a great achievement come 3rd in his first competition. Most competitors ages ranged between 22 and 50.
The competition involved completing multiple tasks on various sized excavators ranging from 1.5 ton to 25 ton. The tasks involved: trenching to the right level and depth, loading sand onto a 20 ton truck to the correct weight, curb crossing (crossing a pipe both ways without touching it), pouring tea from a teapot into a glass, stacking tyres, painting the CCNZ logo, balancing a ball on a road cone etc.
Well done Kaleb!
