Over the first week of the school holidays Ben Mason has taken part in the NZ Junior Rowing Trials at Lake Karapiro.
Ben has been named in the New Zealand Junior Mens Quad that will compete at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Tokyo from 7-11 August 2019.
Ben had to compete in many races on Karapiro as well as sit a gruelling 2km erg test at the beginning of the trial, in which he achieved a personal best.
This is a huge achievement as only 4 scullers from among New Zealand's best Junior Oarsmen were selected.
Ben will get to race on next years Olympic games course. Shortly he will relocate to Cambridge to study and train before he flies to Japan.
