Last week the Year 12 Outdoor Education students travelled to Twizel to undertake the Alps to Ocean cycle tour.
The students organised to ride parts of the cycle way in order to take advantage of the scenic parts of the tour.
Day 1
Lake Pukaki Power Station through to the bottom of the lake.
Day 2
The Power Station and then along the canal, through the snow and ice to Tekapo, with a swim in the hot pools to finish the day.
Day 3
Day 3 brought rain and snow which changed our plans from a trip to Aoraki and the Sir Edmond Hillary Centre instead, to a side trip to Tasman Lake where the terminus of the Tasman Glacier can be seen. Biking the trail from Pukaki through to Twizel provided a challenge through the soft marshy track.
Day 4
We packed up the camp ready for home with the last part of the riding to take place from Kurow through to the Caves.
