Year 10 student Theo Smith was one of 5 Diving New Zealand Squad Members who was invited to compete in the 10th Singapore Diving National Championships.
It was a busy trip arriving in time for two and a half days of training and then straight into three days of competition.
The first event was Men's Open 1 metre. This was Theo's first time competing in this event and he was the youngest competitor by a few years. He placed 3rd in a competitive field. He competed his last dive and was straight into his tracksuit to march on for Group B Boys Platform event. It was a very competitive field and Theo managed to place 3rd. Time for a snack and then into the Boys 14-18 Synchro where Theo and his Synchro partner Arno Lee placed 2nd.
The last day was 1 metre again and Theo placed 3rd. The 3 metre did not go quite according to plan and he placed 4th.
A great experience and fabulous event to attend.
