Southland Secondary Schools Chess Championships

Last Sunday two chess teams from Otago Boys' traveled down to Invercargill to take part in the inaugural Southland Secondary Schools Chess Championships.

It was a very well organised tournament and the competition between the six teams was very close with a high standard of chess being played. Our A team won the gold medals but unfortunately had a disasterous last round which allowed the James Hargest team to gain valuable points saw them finish in second place with our B team finishing a creditable third and the bronze medals.

A Team: Max Lough, Ethan Lau, Noah Oseki and Aaron Nelson.
B Team: Richard Wang, Nicholas Wright, Jared Lau and Oliver Hobbs.
