This week, the school has enjoyed the opportunity to welcome the Education Review Office team into the school.
ERO, as they are known, are charged with externally reviewing the academic achievement, curriculum design and health of every learning institution in the land. Initial discussions and observations of the material provided by the school have been very positive, and while we have not seen the final report as yet; we are delighted with the positive verbal feedback on both the school and the Hostel.
I am sure that ERO will identify areas for us to look at, as that is their role. I am equally confident that, as a school, we will be able to respond in a positive manner to their recommendations. When this report is finalised, I will share it with the community.
This week we have, unfortunately had again to deal with the effects of cyber-bullying by students. I urge all parents, once again, to talk with your son regarding the impact that this has; the ease with which a particularly horrible post can be made and the damage that it causes. My question is, "Are you willing to look at the language and sites that your son is accessing?" Many parents tell me they do. When I see material of concern and we share it with a boy's parent, I am amazed at how genuinely stunned they are by the content. Do you really check?
I'll leave you to think it over.
