The OBHS Lodge situated in the Matukituki Valley, Mt Aspiring National Park, is the jewel in our crown.
All students have an opportunity to use this fantastic facility in one of the world’s premier environments. Learning happens through a broad range of activities including rock climbing, abseiling, rafting, kayaking, tramping, and camping overnight.
Before students go on camp plenty of time will be spent learning basic kayaking and other water skills in our own heated pool.
Curriculum related work is firmly linked to this programme and we strongly believe that young New Zealanders should learn the skills involved in teamwork. This beautiful, fun and challenging environment is an ideal place to begin.
This is an opportunity for boys to participate in the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award scheme. There are four core components: Service, Skill, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey. Students aged 14 can start on the bronze award, with direct entry to silver and gold awards possible at 15 to 16 years respectively.
