Otago Boys' High School had the pleasure of hosting the South Island final of the 1st XV competition last Saturday. Below is an email received from the Chairman of the Otago Secondary Schools Rugby Council.
Kia ora, Richard, Kelvin and Craig.
On behalf of the OSSRC, I would like to pass on our thanks for the way in which OBHS hosted the South Island final at the weekend.
The field was in superb order, the ground logistics spot on and the pre and after match functions were excellent.
Many of the visiting Nelson supporters I spoke to on the day were in awe of the school, the facilities and the general rugby atmosphere that prevailed.
Although the result did not go the way of the boys, all of those in attendance were treated to an outstanding game, which epitomised all the good things about schoolboy rugby - a point you illustrated very well in your after-match speech.
The 1st XV have done the school, the competition and the region proud and I wish the players that made their last appearance in the hoops, the very best with their future careers.
Nga mihi,
Greg Heller (Chairman, OSSRC)
