A Message From The Rector

If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.

These simple words spoken at a commencement speech by William McRaven, US Navy Admiral in 2014 have real resonance with our school at the moment. Both myself and Mr King have used the clip (see below) this week to highlight the positive outcome such a simple, routine task can have.

All boys have been challenged to take on these words and to personalise them into something that connects for them. That is the hard bit. Often messages wash over students and as a teacher I am always trying to find different ways to engage your son.

As we race towards the end of the year, it is pertinent to stop, collect ourselves and to re-evaluate where each of us is at. Where are we in terms of our goals, our motivation, our needs and our destination?

Can I please ask that you have a look at this clip and take the opportunity to talk with your son. My advice, listen more than you talk. Have the conversation while moving and hold your breath; you will have got him if he makes his bed!
