OBHS Karate Class

By Lee Hart | Posted: Sunday February 2, 2020

Okinawa is the birth place of all Karate. Over the years, various styles and focuses have evolved but the styles in Okinawa remain true to the essence of what Karate is. The Karate class at OBHS is designed to introduce traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate to students which is so much more than self-defence!

It can be the beginning of a lifelong journey on the path to many benefits such as:

· Self improvement

· Self respect

· Self awareness

· Self confidence

· Self discipline

· Fitness

· Respect for others

· Courage

· And of course, self defence

Classes led by Mr Lee Hart are held in the school gymnasium on Friday evenings from 6pm - 7pm.

The class is affiliated to the Dunedin Institute of Traditional Karate under the guidance of Sensei John Marrable (IOGKF 6th Dan) and your child must be a member of the club to grade and attend weekly classes at the dojo (place of practice).
