The NZ Surf Life Saving Championships were held in Gisborne during March.
Year 13 student Angus Brett travelled with his four man team to Gisborne for the weekend to compete. Conditions were challenging and competition fierce.
Competing in several events, Angus and his team won silver in the canoe racing, joining the Warrington surf life saving team success of winning multiple medals. Angus would have gone on to compete in the National IRB Championships at Ruakaka. He has excelled at IRB racing medalling at Otago competitions for several years.
After having spent long hours volunteering as a lifeguard over several summers, and training in multiple competitive surf life saving sports every night of the week during summer, Angus has made the most of opportunities close to his home, given his time freely to his community and excelled in his chosen sport. Kia kaha Angus!
