Bike Maintenance Classes Underway

The Year 12 Outdoor Education classes are covering bike maintenance over the next few weeks.

This is to prepare them for their cycle tour later in the year where they will need to be self-sufficient. Earlier this week, under the expert guidance of Gavin Mcauley, Cycle World bike mechanic, the students were shown how to change a tyre. Offering up several useful tips the boys were left to practice. 

The session finished with them all going head-to-head in a tyre changing time trial. The winner was Alex McLachlan, taking only 58 seconds! 

In the subsequent periods they will cover aspects relating to bike cleaning, fixing a chain break, and brake and gear adjustments.
