Expectations of OBHS Sport Teams

It is great to have winter sports underway and see the boys out in the community representing Otago Boys' High School.

Now that we are playing sport, the boys are expected to uphold the values of the school on and off the sports fields, along with the behaviour that align to the school values.

The language used in the school environment is that our behaviour is "Above the Hoops" and we expect this to be demonstrated in the sporting environment. We will have zero tolerance towards behaviour that is not aligned to our values or using the school language "Below the Hoops".

Our school values are:

  • Courage
  • Perseverance
  • Respect
  • Honour
  • Excellence

Can I please ask that as parents/caregivers you are supportive of this when talking to your son while supporting them on the sideline. It goes without saying, we must be respectful of the officials, opposition and coaches at all times. We will not except any abuse from our sidelines. Offering support to our teams is fantastic and we greatly appreciate it. Please remember the boys are trying their best and the coaches will have a plan for what they are trying to do. Often instructions from the sideline can confuse the boys or go against what the coaches are trying to achieve.

Thank you in advance for your support and I look forward to seeing you on the sideline during the winter season.
