The Year 11 Geography class have been studying the sustainable use of environments.
Thanks to Gavin Lee and the team at Oceana Gold we were lucky enough to have a tour of the mining operation at Macraes Flat.
As part of their internal assessment, students needed to consider; what are the impacts of gold mining on people and the environment and the extent to which mining can be maintained in the future to minimise environmental impacts.
A conclusion will need to be made as to whether Macraes Flat is being used sustainably for gold mining and what is their future use.
So, will it last?
