'It did not disappoint' Mick Jagger.
The spirit of cricket and the competitive brotherhood of the school was to the fore on Friday evening. In tricky conditions, the 9B and 10B cricket sides battled it out on Littlebourne.
After winning the 'toss', 9B put on a respectable 135 for 5 off 20 overs. Robert Hall (no relation), top scored with an unbeaten 52; including 8 boundaries. The rest chipped in to build a very good total. Not getting bowled out was a real achievement.
Jackson Shaw took 3 for 14 for the Year 10's, with pacey deliveries and quality fielding from his teammates.
In response, the Year 10's could only get 100 off 20 overs. A tight bowling and excellent fielding display from the 9B's was just too good. They controlled the field very well, with a stunning catch from Tom Hayman setting the tone right at the start.
Our top bowler was Shamus Young with 2-11 off 2, but the wickets were shared around.
My thanks to the parents who braved the conditions. I hope all the boys have enjoyed the season as much as I have. A number have become very able cricketers and the key to 9B is that there is a 10B in 2021.
And remember, I will be just as keen for the 2021 9B's to beat you next year!
