At the weekend our school Lodge hosted a large wedding.
After months in the planning, a couple of last minute hurdles (road closure on the morning of the wedding caused by the Challenge Wanaka event and the Covid scare which almost prevented Aucklanders from attending) were quickly forgotten as the group enjoyed the weekend together.
Geoff Spearpoint (Southern Alps climbing legend and author) married Jane Morris (accomplished Mountain Guide) in an outdoor ceremony with a guest list which reads as a who’s who of the tramping and climbing fraternity in New Zealand. In addition to the beds inside the Lodge, there were about 20 tents set up in the surrounding trees, campervans down at the bridge, and more who just travelled in for the day from accommodation in Wanaka.
They couldn’t have picked a better weekend weather-wise, and all present agreed it was a perfect location for the occasion.
