The junior Colts had a great day on Wednesday at Brooklands.
Losing the toss and being put in to bowl, openers Sage Paterson and Ashton Turner set the tone with 2 wickets a piece in the first 10 overs.
Sage finished with 4 wickets from his 8 overs Ashton finished with 3 wickets while Brandan Turner, Luke Marsh and Max Boylen bowled well, finishing with 1 wicket each.
A well compiled 50 from Kings' middle order batsmen brought their total to 139 all out. In reply, Matthew Parker & Alfie Omelvena Flame stabilised the chase with a nice partnership to begin. Alfie finished with a well compiled 34 and was able to find support in the way of starts from Luke Marsh and Tom Miller along the way. However, late wickets meant that it was either teams game to win before Charlie Ottrey played a crucial hand to carry his bat with 30+ not out showing a great display of hitting, ably supported by Jack Usher at the other end.
The game was won with 6 overs and 3 wickets to spare, well done lads!
The team now play on Sunday against John McGlashan to see who goes to the NZCT Year 9-10 National Tournament.
