On Thursday, 4 March 2021 the Year 13 Business Studies students launched their Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme for 2021.
The basic premise of YES is for students to create and run their own business – they have to create, produce and sell a product or services during the course of the year.
This year due to Covid-19 restrictions OBHS held their own launch day in the Maurice Joel Auditorium. The idea of the Timata/Kick Start Day was for the Otago Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with YES HQ (Wellington) to pitch the competition to this year's students.
2021 will see OBHS enter at least a dozen teams in the nationwide competition. Teams will compete for spot-prizes throughout the year as well as Regional and National Excellence Awards. The value added of the day for the students involved was they were able to validate their current business ideas with members of the local Dunedin business community with over a dozen mentors coming in to listen and help the boys with their current thinking.
If you would like to be involved with supporting the boys involved in this year's competition in a mentoring capacity please contact: Mr Gwyn Pratley OBHS TiC Economics & Business Studies on his school email address [email protected]
