Last Friday afternoon saw 9O head off for a field trip into the Dunedin CBD.
In Social Studies this year the boys have been studying GIS (Geographic Information Systems). GIS is a framework for gathering, managing and analysing data.
To provide a real-life context to what we are studying the boys went into town to collect data using Survey123, an online app where uses can map locations and add photos of various features onto a map.
Using their cell phones, the boys collected information on the location of Dunedin Street Art, where more street art could potentially be located and if street art, in conjunction with other projects, can revitalise dilapidated urban environments.
In Social Studies we used to look at maps now we make them!
