At the completion of the Maadi Cup in March, 3 rowers from Otago Boys' High School gained trails for representative teams.
Grayson Small and Henry Kirk headed to Lake Ruataniwha in the first weekend of the school holidays to trial for the South Island Under 18 team. They were named in the Under 18 Boys quad and Double Sculls and headed to Lake Karapiro in the second week of the school holidays to compete in the North vs South Under 18 regatta.
The boys won both their quad races and came second in their double. The South Island won the overall points and the trophy that came with it.
Reuben Cook gained a NZ Junior (Under 19) trial at the completion of the Maadi Cup and travelled to Lake Karapiro for a 6 day trial in the second week of the holidays.
After completing a PB on the 2km erg test, Reuben raced all week and was named in the NZ Mens Junior Quad which was a fantastic achievement. This team is an international representative one, and was due to travel to Bulgaria in August. However, due to Covid the NZ Juniors will either race against an Australian team or stay in NZ and compete against the other NZ Representative teams in August.
