Year 13 Formal

On Saturday 22nd May, nearly 200 boys and girls all put the school uniforms and sports jerseys aside for a different kind of dress code.

Once the lads got out of the shower and chucked on a suit and tie at the last minute, the attendees made their way to the blue and gold decorated Otago Museum, where whanau were invited to mix and mingle.

Following a bit of chin wagging, at 7.30pm the parents hit the road, while the formal-goers sat down, as each table waited eagerly for the all-go to get up and stack their plates at the buffet. Dinner consisted of roast beef, sliced ham, potatoes, curry & rice, and a variety of salads.

Once everyone had scoffed their faces, it was time for dessert which was slices of cheesecake, mudcake, and fruit salad.

Despite the slow moving line, photos were very entertaining - people coming up with some interesting poses…

As people came out the other side of the photography stage, the heels and blazers came off and it was a bee-line to the dance floor in the Hutton Theatre. After everyone’s toes got stood on a few times over the couple hours of dancing, nothing other than Old Crow Medicine Show’s great Wagon Wheel wrapped up the night at the museum.

We would like to thank all those who helped out:

Tara and her team at BB Catering for the amazing meal; Vanessa and the Museum staff for the wonderfully decorated venue; Dave, Sophie, Jake & the rest of Gravity’s workers for use of lighting, music & DJing, and the photo backdrop; Sharron Bennett for the spectacular photography; and the staff at school who all helped the night run smoothly, especially Ms Rodgers with the organisational and administrative help.
