Football Premier 1st XI Final

A match full of tension and excitement was played at the football turf on Wednesday night.

King's High School had beaten us previously this year, so went into the final full of confidence.

It was King's who dominated early and took the lead in the first 15 minutes. This seemed to spur the boys into action with Jak Stevenson, Will Turner and Ben Sinnott driving the comeback. Still 1-0 at half-time but a much closer game.

We dominated the second half with Tyler Muir hitting the crossbar with the great free kick and the rebound saw a goal mouth scramble that eventually saw King's clear off the line. We were attacking well down both flanks with Yun Chang and Jamie Le Comte getting behind the defence and delivery some quality ball into the box. Another clever free kick saw the rebound falling to Ben who slotted the ball home into the corner of the net 1-1.

Despite dominating the rest of the half and extra time of 20 minutes the score at fulltime remained 1-1.

Onto Penalty Kicks. This always raises the stress levels. Yun, Jamie and Will were successful while Alex Boomer pulled off two fantastic saves to deny King's, so Tyler had the opportunity to win it for us. He stepped up and despite their keeper getting a hand to the ball it went in and we got our hands on the silverware again.

With Liam Kerr, Reuben Cook, Jack McFarlane, Finn Bielski-Cook, Luka Mandich and those mentioned before playing their last match for school, it was a fitting way to finish.
