McIndoe House introduces a new award.
Every year in McIndoe House, boys have the opportunity to receive a Phoenix Award. This is a certificate which recognises that they have achieved something special that adds to the reputation of the house. It could be sporting, academic or service based. This year, one young man’s achievements in particular inspired me to create a new award. This new award is called the Golden Phoenix and it is a small trophy that will be awarded annually to a boy in McIndoe house who meets the following criteria:
Gain at least three Phoenix awards
Consistently display the school values and bring honour to McIndoe House
Enhance the reputation of Otago Boys’ High school at a local, national or international level
The recipient of this inaugural award is Reuben Cook. This young man is truly outstanding. Also a recipient of a Class Act Award, Reuben humbly pursues a number of sporting interests, gaining awards in athletics, cross-country and rowing at both local and national level. He always has time for his brothers and is a highly respected member of McIndoe house. I hope that his achievements will make other boys want to aspire to a Golden Phoenix award themselves!
