This morning at house assembly, McIndoe House had the privilege of farewelling its Year 13 students.
Oliver McKewen, as House Leader spoke on behalf of the Year 13 boys. He thanked the house for its brotherhood over the years and for the support shown to him as House Leader and his two Deputy Leaders Moana Takataka and Liam Kerr. Oliver wished the rest of the house well in continuing the traditions of the school and the house.
Robbie McCaw ably led the boys in the traditional chant of the Red Army "Oh When The Reds Go Marching In" and Sam Gavin led the Haka as a sign of respect to the outgoing Year 13 students. As Mr McCrone, Dean of McIndoe house quite rightly pointed out, this Year 13 cohort has been one of the best and next year, the current Year 12 students will have big shoes to fill.
Go well Year 13 and remember the house motto "Resurgam" if times get tough. Like the Phoenix boys, you can always rise from the ashes!
