Otago Volleyball Championships

On the 13th and 14th of November the Otago Junior Volleyball Championships were held.

OBHS has tremendous depth in it's junior volleyball programme and we chose to enter 3 very competitive teams rather than the 'single top team' approach taken by most schools. 

All three teams played extremely well, with overall placings of 2nd, 5th and 6th. All 3 teams had players that had legitimate claims to the tournament squad, with Manaia Lesa and Harrison Friend named after having a great tournament. Well done boys!

Normally these games would have decided seedings for the South Island tournament scheduled to be played in Nelson this year, however like several events our boys have trained hard for, this is not going ahead. For the 10 Blues players, their focus has switched to claiming a place in the Senior Blues squad for next year, that will be travelling to nationals.
