Year 12 English - Short Stories

The challenge was to write a short story of no more than 100 words.

It had to include:

· a broken computer/laptop/tablet.
· someone who claims to be the friend of an important figure (e.g. the Queen, Jacinda Ardern, Vladimir Putin …).
· A newspaper with something missing or cut out.
· A building under construction.
· A dog.
· At least one line of dialogue.

Over the coming weeks, we will share some of the stories. 


“Newsflash: a rabid dog was seen rampaging around the city this morning, attacking people and their belongings. The dog was first sighted near a building under construction and assaulted the construction manager - who claims to be a close friend of the current prime minister’s husband. Reports have concluded that the dog only went for his tablet, destroying it in the process. Th-”

“W…what in the world?” I spluttered as I looked outside to see a drooling black dog with a piece of newspaper in his jaw. Its eyes fixated on my tv, it was crawling closer and closer and closer…
