Covid Positive Case in School House

By Richard Hall | Posted: Thursday February 17, 2022

I am writing to you to confirm that we have a covid-19 positive case in our hostel, School House.

The person involved is not a staff member or student, but an ex-staff member who currently resides in one of the Housemaster accommodation rooms, located outside of the dormitory sites.

This person has not had any duties or responsibilities this year in School House and has not been in regular contact with students or staff. Our information is the risk to current staff and students is minimal, but we are taking all precautions.

As a result, we have isolated and sought nasal swab testing for three current Housemasters.

Each Housemaster is isolating separately, away from staff and students and we are following the current guidelines regarding testing and isolation from both the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education.

I can confirm that the Covid positive case, our source, is well, and currently showing no symptoms. His contact with Covid-19 came through a connection to Queenstown and we thank him for his vigilance around this important health issue.

School House will remain open, students and staff are, we believe, safe to carry on as normal. We are closely monitoring the situation and health of all staff and students. Please be assured the Health and Safety of our staff and students remains our number one priority.

When there is more relevant information I will update you. Thank you for your understanding.
