The traditional Year 9 Hostel Boys' Camp was held last weekend at the Otago Boys’ High School, Mt Aspiring Lodge.
Our boys were very excited and had some great experiences without digital devices. The camp was led by: Director of Boarding Mr Mahutariki, Rector Mr Hall, Mt Aspiring Guru Mr Roe, with help of Housemasters Zaiya Mahutariki and Ben Sinnamon. Six of our Hostel prefects also showed good leadership in supporting our new Year 9 hostel boys.
The boys learnt about the history of the Lodge and surrounding areas, as well as history of the hostel. Lots of physical activities included: dam building, team challenges, fishing, swimming in various swimming holes in rivers and waterfalls, fitness each morning, walks and spotlight at night. Most importantly the boys had the opportunity to bond and get to know each other.
On the way home they also enjoyed spending time at the Kiwi Water Park in Cromwell while enjoying Subway on the way to the lodge and on the way home.
