Year 12 English - Short Stories

The challenge was to write a short story of no more than 100 words.

It had to include:

· a broken computer/laptop/tablet.
· someone who claims to be the friend of an important figure (e.g. the Queen, Jacinda Ardern, Vladimir Putin …).
· A newspaper with something missing or cut out.
· A building under construction.
· A dog.
· At least one line of dialogue.

The Agent loomed over the body, panting heavily from the chase. Pursuing someone up the side of a half-built sky-scraper would take the breath out of anyone, regardless of their training. It was fortunate that the Agent was in much better shape than his quarry. They looked different from the newspaper clipping that was included in his briefing, but that was probably due to all the blood. Satisfied his target was dead, he fished out a phone with his paws.

“Hello Putin,” the dog said in a thick Russian accent. “This is Good-Boy 117. I have the laptop.”
