A main focus for the Year 13 students of 2022 is to provide more opportunities, to lead and bring the school together during lunchtimes.
Nathaniel Williams, Whetu Price-Koopu, Ronan Melville and I have worked together on creating a House Dodgeball competition.
Because of the restrictions we face due to Covid, we are unable to spend time together in a usual fashion such as Athletics Day or even Assemblies. On top of this, our new no phone policy has created an environment for students to get more creative with their lunchtimes.
Running over the course of a few weeks, the dodgeball competition has started with great success. The Year 9s gathered in their house groups on Thursday lunchtime to take on each other in a fun and friendly competition. With music blaring across the quad, the cheers and support of their fellow brothers in other years, the Year 9’s gave it their best shot. It was a great start to an awesome competition.
The winners of this competition will earn a decent number of house points. They could make or break the entire house competition this year. Once all the year groups have faced off, the champions will be announced.
Current standings are as follows (as of 12:00pm, 25 February):
