Meet the OBHS Sports Department

By OBHS | Posted: Wednesday March 9, 2022

This week we would like to introduce the staff in our sports department.

Craig Cumming

I am the Director of Sport at Otago Boys' High School.

My role involves overseeing our sporting programmes that we offer at Otago Boy’s and aligning them with the Sports Council mission for sport at OBHS which is 'having programmes that allow all our boys to be as good as they want to be'.

We in the sports department are really proud of the participation of our boys at school. Last year we had 84% of our boys playing at least 1 sport and many playing multiple.

During the year I try to get out and watch as many teams playing as I can. If you see me, please come and introduce yourself and say hello.

Stephanie Mason

I am the Sports Administrator at Otago Boys' High School.

I carry out the day to day administration that is required to run sport. This includes sending out sports registrations and permission forms, booking accommodation and transportation for tournaments and interschools.

I also have two other roles within our school. I help out in our school office in the mornings and am also the administrator for the Gateway programme.

Cameron Sims

My name is Cameron Sims and I have a shared role of Sports Coordinator and High Performance Trainer at Otago Boys' High School. I am an old boy of the school which makes it all the more rewarding to come back to give students opportunities to grow and learn, whether it's on the sporting field or in the classroom.

In my role as Sports Coordinator, my job is to help manage and enhance the school’s sport and physical recreation programme to the students who participate in it, and encourage all students to participate.

My role as the High Performance Trainer is to provide assistance alongside the P.E teaching staff in regards to athlete development. The students who I work with are those who take the optional Applied Sport and Sport Education Classes in Year 11 through to Year 13. The aim is to provide a safe environment for the students to begin exploring avenues of health and fitness.

If there are any questions regarding our sporting philosophy, or the outcomes and measures that we aim to achieve in the athletic development of the students at Otago Boys' High School, feel free to get in contact with me via email at [email protected] or come see me in the Sports Office.
