Welcome to our Week 6 Newsletter

Greetings and welcome to our School House Community. Welcome to the Week 6 edition of our Newsletter.

Phase 3 in Hostel

This is to reiterate to all parents and the wider community that the School House hostel is Not considered a Household under the new guidelines. If we get a positive case from a boy in the hostel, only those who he rooms with will be considered a close contact. We will still use the 1.5 metre rule to determine who is a close contact from being exposed to the virus over a period of time. We will try our best to provide RATs testing for your sons. We recommend that you acquire some for your son as well for use when needed. Currently each boy can order some for free from this link http://requestrats.covid19.health.nz/

We have assisted them in some cases already to get some which we collect for them and the hostel from Roslyn Pharmacy.

We remind and ask all parents if your son is on an overnight leave anywhere that they must complete the google form before they re-enter the hostel. Add this to your favourites. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfvkFAznYMAtg_kArohMJ9UnbGXxAoKwR1LCCUN8yUujSaPIw/viewform?usp=sf_link

This is also a timely reminder to be cautious about where you allow your sons to go on leave as with the rapid rise in covid cases there is potential for exposure in so many settings especially at social gatherings. We have had positive cases both in school and in hostel and so we ask you to talk with your sons about being careful where they go and maintaining social distancing wherever possible.

Sunday Activities

Our boys enjoyed a great day out last weekend Surfing at St Clair Beach and look forward to trying out Croquet tomorrow. Thank you to Esplanade Surf School for hosting us https://www.espsurfschool.co.nz/

Mitchell Cup School House Challenges Term 1

We begun the first of two Mitchell Cup House Challenges in the hostel with the annual Pit Cricket Competition. These first few matches have been very competitive with each house doing well in the Junior and Senior Sections with a special mention of Year 13 Prefect Will Scurr, who collected a Hatrick in bowling in the first Senior game.

This is a reminder we will have our Termly Formal Dinner in School House on Wednesday the 13th April from 6pm. We will be streaming our main awards ceremony on our Facebook Page so please make sure you are following us in order to watch the live stream. This is the only date we require all boys to be available for when in hostel. It is a Full School Uniform event with some formal presentations along with an amazing formal dinner.

School Life

Our hostel boys have been given a great opportunity to further themselves academically at Otago Boys' High School and this week we have had some good weather so many classes have made the most of the outdoors during class. Here is a snap shot of some of our boys.
