The annual Rod Byers memorial match was played last Sunday in beautiful conditions at the home of OBs football, Roberts Park.
With Covid having its way a number of players from both teams were absent. This didn't detract from what was a great game of football to remember Rod and his contribution to both OBs and Roslyn Wakari Football Clubs.
The school had an early lead, but was pegged back to 1-1 reasonably quickly. Another goal just before the break saw school take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. In warm conditions and with young legs apart from 1 old timer, the school eventually won out 6-3 and lifted the trophy.
The large crowd including members of Rods family enjoyed the occasion played in great spirit. A short presentation and afternoon tea followed.
Our thanks to Mark Gribben from Roslyn for enabling us to continue a fine traditional fixture.
