As the Year 9 Māori class come to the end of their module, we visited Tūhura - Otago Museum.
We started in the planetarium where we had a guided tour of the southern skies, Māori star lore and pūrākau specific to Kāi Tahu. This was a highlight for many of the boys and was a great addition to what we had been learning in class around Te Waka o Aoraki.
After the planetarium session we heard about various items of Māori technology and were able to handle various taonga in The Tāngata Whenua Gallery such as toki.
Finally, our session ended with an exploration of the museum, including the new Kura Pounamu exhibit.
