The 13ODR classes completed a one day tramp on Wednesday.
This was a preparatory walk for the students to trial strategies to help them achieve individual, and group, goals for a future multi-day tramp.
With good weather on the day we encountered an aerial weed-spraying operation happening between Flagstaff and Swampy summits. With this encompassing our planned route we were forced to move elsewhere.
So, Mount Cargill it was. While we didn't quite cover the distance (despite a few diversions) we had intended there was still some good elevation gained and plenty of learning around appropriate food, clothing and footwear. For some, there was also the realisation that their fitness needs some work, too.
Students will now debrief in class and make modifications to their strategies to prepare themselves for a Silver Peaks mission early next term.
