Futsal round up

The Term One Dunedin Schools’ Futsal Competition finished on the final day of term. While this was problematic for some teams, who had to scramble to find enough players to take the field, it was a great way to sign off on a tough Term for others.

Illness, Covid restrictions and Camps caused on-going issues despite teams having good-sized squads. Despite all this we were able to front for the majority of our fixtured games. Thank you to all those players who played for other teams to allow them to be competitive and for those who gave advanced warning of their absence.

While team numbers were restricted, Otago Boys’ High School were able to field 13 teams across the senior and junior divisions. Despite having to default a full round of games for one week, many teams still finished at the pointy end of their grades and four teams ended up playing off for the silverware. After it all washed up, three of them won! The Senior Red team, in the Senior Division 3 final, were the only team to miss out on a trophy.

It is probably no coincidence that the two junior teams that had success had dedicated managers. Murray Devereux and Tony McFadgen, thank you again. Thank you also to the other parents who helped manage teams, too. Your efforts were really appreciated this Term.
