Basketballers qualify for World Cup

Year 13 student George Grant has been away in Qatar with the NZ Under 17 Men's basketball team, competing in the Asia Cup.

This tournament was a World Cup qualifying event. The team beat Iran, the second seed behind Australia to qualify for the World Cup. They also beat Lebanon to finish third and gain a podium finish. 

George flew home on Wednesday and next week will head to Spain for the World Cup where they will compete against teams from Spain, USA and Argentina - all previous winners of the World Cup.
