This week our senior students have participated in our first Wānanga days.
“Wānanga traditionally conveys meanings related to highly evolved knowledge and forums, in the sense of having a discussion to arrive at a deeper understanding”.
With this in mind, and surveying student opinion, the general feeling is that Wānanga days are helpful. Students are finding that teachers have more time to discuss progress and give advice than in a normal timetabled period. They have time to complete tasks and gain credits.
The most expressed negative feedback is that by lunchtime they are tired!!! At this stage the students are giving the 'thumbs up' to it being an annual event.
