Dan the weatherman got it all wrong!
We were wrapped up ready for showers and biting cold winds but Long Beach seemed a world away. The sun was out with clear blue skies, and the walls we climbed protected us from the wind.
Split between the ‘Pinnicles’ and the ‘Caves’ the class had multiple opportunities to demonstrate their climbing and belaying skills. Swapping halfway through the day everyone got to experience both. While no-one was quite able to reach the lofty heights of Excellence, there were a number of boys who achieved Merit grades.
The Wānanga day was a fantastic opportunity to get a good amount of time on the rockface.
